Origin
Ultimate Barber opened its doors almost two decades ago in 2004, then doing business as Ultimate Look Barber and operating as the sister company to Ultimate Look Beauty Salon. This family-owned business began in 1992. Ultimate Barber is owned and operated by founder and master barber Dominique Wells. Dominique, affectionately nicknamed “Dubb” in his teen years, began cutting hair as a hobby at 12, developing his craft into a lucrative career by age 17 and becoming a licensed master barber through the Minnesota School of Barbering after graduating high school.
With a classic + modern mentality, Ultimate Barber is a local barbershop that mixes quality service with the diverse styles and personalities of its experienced and professional stylists/barbers. The shop is home to some of Minneapolis - St. Paul’s top talent and is known and recognized as one of St. Paul’s best and longest-running barbershops. Even flourishing during a time of adversity attributed to the dramatic changes brought on by the recent COVID-19 pandemic, the deep wounds left by the local tragedies of Daunte Wright, George Floyd, and Philando Castille, the installment of the 11-mile Green Line light-rail system steps away from the shop’s front door, and the construction of the nearby Allianz Field, a 346,000 square-foot soccer stadium.
Ultimate Barber’s roots continue to run deep as a respected Twin Cities barbershop located on the now train-centered Corridor route of University Avenue in St. Paul’s diverse Midway neighborhood. The shop has become a trusted provider and safe space for its people and community. Ultimate Barber consistently grows and fosters clientele while connecting people, resources, opportunities, and ideas.
